The images here were made from the 1 m resolution data provided by Jiquan Chen.   Most are of the full-extent of the mapped area (400 m east-west by 200 m north-south).

DEM of mapped area (400 m x 200 m)

wrccrf_dem1_contour.gif (13445 bytes)

Contour interval is 1 m.  Higher elevations are at the left, in darker colors.   Elevation range is 21.5 m, from 86.5 m to 108.0 m.  See the close-up of the PAR simulation area below.

Shaded relief of mapped area (400 m x 200 m)

WRCCRF DEM Shaded relief (34225 bytes)

Illumination direction is 315 degrees azimuth, 45 degrees elevation.  Note the "bumpiness".  Casual inspection suggests it is not related to the positions of trees.

Aspect

wrccrf_dem1_aspect.gif (24849 bytes)

Aspect map derived from the 1 m resolution DEM.

Slope

wrccrf_dem1_slope.gif (15286 bytes)

Slope map of area.  Maximum slope is 33.5%.  Note that the greatest slopes are along the drainage.

DEM of mapped area (400 m x 200 m) with PAR overlay

WRCCRF DEM with PAR simulation inserted (7244 bytes)

The direct PAR simulation results (for summer solstice, 21 June 1997) at 1 m resolution for a 50 m x 50 m region were overlaid on the DEM. Higher elevations are at the left, in darker colors.  Elevation range is 21.5 m, from 86.5 m to 108.0 m.  See the close-up of the PAR simulation area below.

Close-up of PAR map and trees

wrccrf_dem1_junepar_trees.gif (12847 bytes)

Close-up of the area of PAR simulation.  The circles represent locations of trees and their size is proportional to tree height (not tree or crown diameter).
